The Chocolate & Tan Dachshund is any color from milk chocolate to a dark chocolate like a Hershey bar. The tan markings usually appear on the chest, lower legs, feet, eyebrows, and around the muzzle area. Nose, nails and eye rims must be chocolate or liver with hazel/green eyes.. Chocolate (bb) cannot make black pigment since it is lacking the B allele so they do not have any black on their body anywhere. Chocolate is recessive to most all other colors. In order to produce chocolate & tan pups, both parents have to be either chocolate & tan or be carriers of chocolate & tan.
